Officials Sign Up

New Officials/Scorers

If you wish to become a USA Volleyball official you must follow these important steps……

  1. Become a member of USA Volleyball!  You must sign up for an Adult Membership and you will need to have a background check to work Junior USA Volleyball.
    1. Follow this link to Register – NEW REGISTRATION
    2. Complete the SafeSport Training - SafeSport
    3. Complete the required coursework through our training modules.
      • In Webpoint sign up under Region Ref/Score Clinics and Register for "NEW Adult Referee Clinic" or NEW Adult Scorer Clinic"
      • Once you complete the entire clinic you will receive a PROVISIONAL rating

Current Officials/Scorers

  1. Re-register for the new 2014-2015 season
    • Follow this link to register – RE-REGISTER
      • Your background check is good for two years, make sure this is updated!
  2. NEW this season - All Adults involved with USA Volleyball must be SafeSport Certified.  Click HERE for training instructions.
  3. In Webpoint (where you signed up for your USA membership), sign up under Region Ref/Score Clinics and Register for "Re-Certification Clinic for Referees" or "Re-Certification Clinic for Scorers".
    • Once you have completed ALL modules and tests please email the Referee Chair with your status.

Referee/Scorer Ratings

 

  1. Provisional
    • Term lasts for Two Years from Certification
    • Must take the required On-line Clinic EVERY year to maintain Certification (Modules and Test)
    • Must be rated ONCE in the term as a R1 and R2 to maintain Certification
    • Must be dedicated to Region Events
    • Failure to do the Previous items will result in having to take the NEW Officials clinic over again. 
  2. Regional
    • Term lasts for Four Years from Certification
    • Must take the required On-line Clinic EVERY year to maintain Certification (Modules and Test)
    • Must be rated TWICE in the term as a R1 and TWICE as a R2 to maintain Certification.
    • All Regional Level Referees MUST also be a Regional Level Scorer
    • Must be dedicated to Region Events
    • Failure to do the Previous items will result in dropping to a Provisional Rating.

How do I improve my Referee rating?

  1. Provisional to Regional Official
    1. Commitment to work Region Events
    2. Be rated twice as a R1 and twice as a R2 by a member of the Region or National Rating Team.
  2. Regional to Junior National Official
    1. Fill out a Region Application for entry into our Junior National Candidate Program
      • Junior National Candidate Program
        1. Fill out the Appropriate Iowa Region Application by January 1st of the current season
        2. Candidates will be rated by the Region Rating Team throughout the season
        3. Candidate Committee consists of Current and Retired Junior National and National Officials in Iowa
        4. Candidates will be notified sometime after Qualifying Regionals if their Application will be sent to the National Office for consideration into the USA Volleyball National Program.
        5. If accepted into the National Program, Iowa Candidates will be paired with a mentor through the rest of the season and through the National Rating process.

If you desire to work Iowa Regionals

  1. Qualifying Regionals – March 28th and 29th– Cedar Falls Area
    1. Only Regional, Jr. National, National, and International referees will be used.
  2. Non-Qualifying Regionals – April 11th and 12th– Des Moines Area
    1. We will have over 30 courts of volleyball
    2. Provisional and higher referees will be used
  3. You must sign up for Regionals through the AES website www.advancedeventsystems.com
    1. Create an account – if you do not already have one
    2. When you create an account it will ask you for a lot of information – Address, phone, email, and etc. Please fill out as much as possible.
    3. Also, please ‘OPT IN’ to receive emails from AES – that way the tournament directors can communicate with you through AES – it makes it easy for us to email you. Thanks.
    4. Go to the ‘Official’ tab
    5. Click on ‘Current Events’
    6. Search for Iowa
    7. Register by clicking on the ‘Register’ button
    8. Answer the pertinent questions.
