2012 Team Iowa Ice Coach

We are thrilled to announce the recent hire of TEAM IOWA ICE head coach, Trudy VandeBerg.  Coach VandeBerg, who is currently in her 5th season as Assistant Volleyball Coach at Iowa State University, will also take the helm of our first pro team!   For more information on Coach VandeBerg, you can find her current bio here.   WELCOME ABOARD, COACH!

2012 Team Iowa Ice Roster
 
Janelle Hester
  • attended Davenport Central HS in Davenport, IA, and was an all-state selection and conference player of the year her senior season.  She led the MIssissippi Athletic Conference in kills and was fourth in blocks her final prep season, and finished 3rd in the state in kills in 1998 while averaging nearly six (5.57) kills per geam.  Holds the school record for career kills.  Earned fourt HS letters in volleyball, three in basketball, and two in track.
  • played at the University of Tennessee from 1999-2002.  In 2001, she played in all 100 of UT's games.  
  • College awards: second team All-SEC for two seasons.
  • trained with the USA Volleyball National A2 program in Colorado Springs in 2002
  • played overseas for the Nova KBM Maribor Club in Slovenia, Maribor, from 2006-2007.
Carly Jenson  
  • from Omaha, Nebraska and attended Millard North HS.  Her high school team advanced to the state tournament her final three years.  Played in the Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Match, was first team all-state and first team all-metro
  • played club volleyball for Nebraska Elite
  • played at Iowa State University
  • College awards: AVCA Second Team All-America, First team All-Big 12, AVCA All-Region, NCAA Minnesota All-Region Tournament Team, CVU.com Top Performer, Academic All-Big 12 first team, Iowa State Challenge All-Tournament Team, and Northern Illionois Invitation All-Tournament Team.

Jeni Kremer
  • from Davenport, Iowa and attended North Scott HS as a three sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and softball
  • played at University of Northern Iowa.  While there, the team went to the NCAA tournament during three seasons.
  • College awards: All-Conference
  • is a high school volleyball coach and middle school math teacher
  • continues to play competitively in both indoor and outdoor tournaments and leagues
  • currently resides in Bettendorf with her husband Nick and 2 daughters, Isabelle and Grace

Caitlin Mahoney
  • from Omaha, Nebraska and attended Marian HS
  • while in high school, captured the Class A record for aces in a match, season, and career.
  • played club volleyball for Nebraska Elite.
  • played at Iowa State University.  While there, the team made it to the Elite Eight and beat Nebraska for the first time in school history, and her senior year received an overall 4th ranking in the NCAA tournament. 
  • College awards: Academic All-Big 12 first team in 2011, and Academic All-Big 12 second team in 2010.
Bre Payton
  • from Waterloo, IA and attended Waterloo Columbus HS
  • while in high school, was a four tim first team all-conference selection, three time first team all-metro and all-district, and a two time first team all-state selection.  Was on the Elite All-State team and the State All-Tournament team in 2006.  
  • played at University of Northern Iowa.
  • College awards: MVC Player of the Year, AVCA All-America second team, AVCA All-Central REgion first team, MVC All-Tournament team.
 
Kelsey Petersen
  • from Kearney, Nebraska and attended Kearney HS.  
  • while in high school, was the No. 60 high school senior recruit, was first-team all state and named one of the Top 2008 Female Athletes by the LIncoln Journal Star and Kearney Hub.  also had a stellar prep track career, capturing back-to-back state titles in the high jump.
  • played club volleyblal for NVA, Nebraska Gold, and Lincold Juniors.
  • played at Iowa State University
  • College awards: Academic All-Big 12 first team

Megan Schipper

  • from Aplington, IA and attended Aplington-Parkersburg HS.
  • played at the University of Iowa from 2006-2010.  Graduated with a BA in Health Promotion.
  • Graduate assistant Coach at University of Northern Iowa from 2010-2012, and will graduate with a Masters in Kinesiology in 2012.
  • currently resides in Cedar Falls, IA
